The festivities of the Wailua Nui Luau bring these legendary mo'olelo (stories) to life through mele (song) and hula (dance). We invite you to immerse yourself in our interactive hana no'eau (skilled arts), savor a bountiful feast of island culinary favorites, and be swept away by music and dances that honor the brilliance of our ancient navigators and the playful tales of our esteemed fishermen - all while basking in the cool ocean breezes as night falls over Wailua.

Wailua, Kaua'i - a sacred and storied place - means "two waters." The vast and bountiful region that the Wailua Nui Luau calls home was historically known as Wailuanuiaho'ano, named in honor of a great chief. Considered the most sacred area of Kaua'i, it is home to the revered Hikinaakala Heiau and nourished by the life-giving Wailua River.

This cherished land holds the treasured stories of our na ali'i (chiefs) and na kupuna (ancestors). The history of Kaua'i, the ancestral wisdom of our people, and the many epic voyages across the South Pacific are deeply rooted in Wailua.
